Executive Coaching can be defined as partnering in a creative process that inspires a person to maximize their personal and professional potential. The process of coaching often unlocks previously untapped sources of imagination, productivity, and leadership. The purpose is to provide support to the Coachee for accountability and self-awareness, help them gain new perspectives and challenge them to find their own solutions. Through open-ended probing questions, the Coachee is encouraged in meaningful exploration that can help them reach a new level of depth and performance.
Contrary to mentoring, coaching focuses on facilitating the individual to draw upon their own experiences and capabilities to set and reach their own objectives. The Coach’s objective is to help the Coachee bring about a shift in their thinking, feeling and motivation leading to a specific behaviour change.
